The most important field: the Ascendant moves a degree every four minutes, and the Zi Wei Self palace is set by the two-hour branch. Even a rough estimate beats leaving it blank.
This only affects the Ascendant — Sun, Moon and the whole Zi Wei chart are unaffected by latitude and longitude. What matters here is the time zone: if you were born outside China you must set it, or all three come out wrong.
West and south are negative. The offset is local standard time against UTC.
National summer-time histories are too fragmented to build in, so you have to check this yourself. China's 1986–1991 summer time is handled automatically; don't tick it for that.
Used only by Zi Wei, to set the direction of the ten-year periods. It does not move any star.

Choices made in this chart: the year turns at Lunar New Year (not at the start of spring); a late Zi hour (after 23:00) counts as the next day; the first fifteen days of a leap month count as that month and the sixteenth onward as the next; the Geng-year transformations are taken as Sun, Wu Qu, Tai Yin, Tian Tong. Schools differ on these points, and another school would cast it differently.
