Why does it have to be done this way?
You'll ask the question everyone else leaves unasked, which occasionally makes you awkward company and occasionally makes you right. Your criteria for judging people differ from the mainstream — status, titles and closeness affect you very little; you look at the person. But your detachment runs both ways: you can see everyone fairly, and therefore find it hard to be genuinely invested in any one person. You care about humanity more than about the human in front of you.
Where you move easily
- Group pressure doesn't move you; when everyone is going one way you can still judge independently.
- You produce options outside other people's frame, because you were never inside it.
- You hold few prejudices and can meet anyone as an equal.
What it tends to cost
- You give reasoning where the other person wanted a reaction.
- Your 'not caring about convention' is sometimes just not admitting you want it too.
- You object quickly, but you often haven't thought about what to build in its place.
